Post  GM Mooseheads March 22nd 2010, 5:55 pm

I would like to put this option out to do the draft:
1:All GM's submit their list in game and export.(30 players protected)
2:Expansion teams would import new file and be able to check available players
3:Commish sets up live draft in chat room at an agreed time(to be worked out with expansion gm's)
4:.Log in to chat room, draft teams
5:My view on draft is set it for 15 rounds and than hit auto draft to finish. That will allow starting line-ups and 6 pitchers to be picked.I know i will attend for the 15 rounds and than my instrution will be auto pick just to have some fun.

Please post your opinions here.We are looking for idea's to get this set up.
Thanks

Dave, Vero Beach GM said he is available to draft this weekend, either Saturday or Sunday.

Paul are you available for a Sunday afternoon draft?

We can do Saturday afternoon, but that leaves you guys with only 1 day of scouting the pool...

My concern is that the idiot AI may load up on guys with toxic contracts (i.e. Umaba, Workman). Should we have some prearranged plan for dealing with this if it happens? Perhaps the expansion teams can have a right of refusal of players that are autodrafted?

Hey now! What makes you think we'd expose the Workman to these hungry wolves? Razz

Now, tell me where you get your inside information! Twisted Evil

On a serious note, you do bring up a valid point. I suppose if someone were to be drafted during the automated rounds we could remove the player from the team at no cost.

Only thing is... when bringing in a veteran type player who has solid popularity, how would we account for the fan increase that came along with the player? Surely if they didn't want to keep the player, that team shouldn't gain any fan interest that came along with the player to begin with.

Maybe I am just making things too complicated. haha

I was thinking more along the lines of a sending a player back to the organization he was drafted from in exchange for cash considerations (a $1?) or some insignificant prospect. Hopefully the player popularity would flow from the drafted team to the expansion team and then back again with little net impact.

ATTENTION EXPANSION GM"s MUST READ Empty $$$$$$$ Players

Post  GM Mooseheads March 23rd 2010, 1:18 pm

my experience tells me drafting a high $ player is not all that bad if he very popular...increasing a fan base is essential to a young team.If he is good a #3 draft pick before trading deadline doesn't hurt either

Personally I'd rather avoid using an autodraft feature if possible. I don't want to get buried by ugly contracts that the AI will inevitably pick.

I think we will avoid the auto picks, unless a team requests it for themselves.

The best option seems to be doing it via list, just need to come up with a breakdown of how many rounds per day we want to do...

Maybe something along these lines...

Saturday, lists for rounds 1-5

Sunday Rounds 6-20

Monday rounds 21-the rest of the draft?

or we could start with rounds 1-5 on Sunday if you guys prefer an extra day of scouting...

Just a rough draft idea.

I think it would be fun to have a live draft, but unfortunately thus far there has not been a time available that all 4 of you have agreed upon.

I am away for a hockey tournament this weekend, so a live draft may not work, unless I have internet access in the motel we are staying at.

Not sure if I will or not.
